Every business assigns specific responsibility for aspects of
their business to members of their leadership team. For
example, you may have a Chief Financial Officer, a Chief Technology
Officer, VP of Sales, etc. In each case, the idea is that you
need the responsibility for that department's performance to rest
with one person.
Managing your IT investment should be no different. In
larger organizations, this responsibility for all aspects of IT,
from networking through management of corporate data to
responsibility for implementation of privacy rules rest with the
Chief Information Officer.
For smaller businesses, it's not feasible or appropriate to have
a dedicated resource for this. In fact, it would be overkill
and a waste. However, it's still important this role be
filled.
The Tango Group plays this role for a number of its key clients.
As a natural extension to our Managed IT service model, we enable you to
outsource the responsibility for management and leadership of this
function to one of our senior team members. This person works
in conjunction with your leadership team, and reports directly to
them on an as-and-when basis. For example, for most clients,
we meet with the executive (or a subgroup of the executive) on a
quarterly basis. The objective of the meeting is to review the past
quarter's activities, to evaluate the progress relative to any
ongoing investments, and to make adjustments as necessary to the
go-forward plan.
Think about it. This is no different than the role played
by legal counsel or accounting services. It often enables your
business to gain access to high-quality leaders who support your
business decision making and execution without having to have them
on your staff.
